Migrated from another waste app to Impact Apps
Council contacted us seeking an app to replace their existing waste app. Council was looking for greater customisation of features and design, increased ability to edit content shown on the app and an Australian based service provider that would be able to provide a higher level of support.

Council asked us to add three customised features to their app. Council wanted the first thing seen by residents to be a summary of their next collection date for each of the services, including the bulk waste collection which may be several months away. We discussed the various ways to achieve this end without unnecessarily duplicating content as Council also wanted to keep the standard Calendar page. The project team decided to create a new “Home” page which would become the landing page when the app is opened. A new navigation button would be created called “Home”. So as not to crowd the navigation bar, the previous button “Bin Info” would be removed. To aid navigation, it was decided that each “next collection” date on the Home page would click through to the Calendar page where more information could be found. We believe this new feature is a great addition to the app and now suggest it to many of our new clients.
Value
The second feature Council requested was to add synonyms to the A-Z search. This was a great suggestion and we have made this a part of our standard apps for councils.
Council communicated regularly and early with its residents about the app changeover. They used push notifications to remind users to download the new app. Google Analytics, installed on our waste app, enabled Council to monitor the transition of residents across to the new app.
