Forbes Shire Council asked us to create a form which would enable all commercial and residential premises to resolve the following:

Challenge

To create a single form that would dynamically respond to information entered by the customer. The options offered to the customer would be determined by the responses already given in the form. The form also needed to cater to both tenants and landowners –allowing tenants to report on some aspects of the service only.

Whilst not yet ready to accept online payments, Council did want a solution that included a digital signature so that the request was binding, and Council could process it without needing to contact the customer again.

We developed several design mock-ups for Council and called upon our in-depth knowledge of both local government and waste and recycling to design a single dynamic form that would achieve Council’s desired specification. The outcome is a great example of how digital solutions can simultaneously save resident time and improve the efficiency of Council’s request handling.

Value

Most of the calls that Council receives about waste pertain to bin requests. These can now be diverted through the app offering cost savings to council and greater convenience for the resident.

More broadly the app enables residents to have their waste and recycling questions answered quickly and conveniently.
